We are so proud to announce that our Rising Star, Joshua Shirley, has been shortlisted for the Engineering and Manufacturing Awards 2023.
The EMAs celebrate the very best of UK engineering and we are excited to find out the results at the ceremony in London this September.
Now employed as an Engineering Technician, Josh joined Elite 5 years ago as an apprentice on the Gold Engineering Apprenticeship Programme. He started out on the testing line where it quickly became apparent that he was capable of more. From here he progressed into Maintenance, where he picked up the mechanical and software programming knowledge to enable him to maintain and repair our machines.
After successfully completing the Gold programme, Josh then progressed to the Higher Level Apprenticeship in Mechatronics and has recently completed his degree in Engineering.
Passionate about engineering and always keen to further develop his knowledge, Josh embeds his current learnings into our workplace. Solution driven and highly innovative, Josh continually looks for ideas on how to improve our processes and systems and has already made a significant contribution to our engineering processes.
“Joshua Shirley demonstrates on a daily basis that age is irrelevant when you have both the hunger and ability to excel. This has seen Joshua develop into a vital part of the company’s Engineering team, where his growth has accelerated beyond mechanical maintenance into the realms of support at the highest levels of hardware and software complexity. Joshua’s desire for excellence has also seen him make machine efficiency improvements outside of his working day by embracing modern computer-based techniques. Combined with his natural humility and positivity, Joshua has achieved the highest levels of professional and personal respect within all sections of the business.”
Mr Neville Hale – Business Improvement Director
Good luck Josh! We are all behind you!
