GENERAL OVERVIEW
- According to AMD CEO the chip shortage won’t end in 2022 due to the low levels of inventory combined with the rapid purchasing of semiconductors throughout the pandemic to power the extreme demand for work-from-home technologies such as PCs.
- The overall demand for computer chips have surged 17% in 2021 from 2019. We are currently still facing lead times of up to 52 weeks which will last well into 2022.
- The costs of raw materials keep rising due to the on going disruptions in the supply chain.
