Since we opened our facility in 1986, we’ve always had a strong sense of social, environmental, and economic responsibility, understanding that our success depends on society’s success. Following an established carbon management strategy the main goal of our sustainability agenda is to always make a positive impact on people’s lives around us including UK and Internationally.

We are committed to a sustainable future and our vision is to improve the social, economic and environmental well-being of our community.

In 2015 the United Nations published the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – 17 ambitious goals which aim to end poverty, protect our planet and increase prosperity and peace for all.

As part of our carbon management strategy whether it’s an investment into our local communities, reducing emissions to tackle climate change, promoting sustainable agricultural practices in our supply chains or ensuring diversity and inclusion within our organisation, our sustainability agenda is aligned to these goals so that we can help create a more sustainable future for all.

We have investigated the possibility of installing PV panels within our facility to generate our own renewable energy and become self-sufficient. Currently identifying a suitable area for installation.

Currently sourcing potential investments in green electricity generation programmes suitable for our business.

Generating our own renewable energy will enable us to cut down our carbon footprint and become more self-sufficient.

At Elite, we know how important it is to be fully sustainable and we want our suppliers and stakeholders to support our actions and do their bit when it comes to saving our planet. Our aim is to work with all of our stakeholders and encourage them to become fully sustainable.

This year at Elite, we are making a positive contribution to the environment by offsetting our carbon footprint by supporting various Carbon Footprint Ltd tree planting projects in the UK & Brazil. 🌱

These projects coordinate planting of trees in our region of the UK as well as reducing the deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon. For every tree planted we are offsetting one tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent. 🌳

The UK regional tree planting project is coordinated in the UK & NI locations providing wildlife habitats and educating children about the importance of the environment and conservation while enhancing the natural UK landscapes.

Brazilian reducing deforestation project is located within the Amazon, the largest remaining rainforest on our planet. The purpose of this project is to provide economic support and protect the rights of Amazonian people.

We have introduced the 4-day working week within our facility to not only provide a better work-life balance for all of our employees but also positively contribute to our environment. With the implementation of the reduced working week we were able to lower our CO2 indirect emissions by 20% as all of our staff travelled to work a day less each week. In addition, our electricity usage within the facility was significantly reduced.

On top that, we have also facilitated working from home, allowing a number of our employees to perform their work remotely when possible.

As part of our carbon management strategy, we have installed a new 3-phase energy monitoring system within our facility to control all of our energy usage. This enables us to carefully analyse the energy readings across different areas inside our facility and determine what actions can be taken to reduce our energy usage.

A significant amount of the electricity our provider supplies us with comes from renewable resources. These sources include direct sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat.

Renewable energy provides reliable power supplies and fuel diversification, which enhance energy security, lower risk of fuel spills, and reduce the need for imported fuels. Renewable energy also helps conserve the nation’s natural resources.

Our everyday actions consume energy and produce carbon emissions. Therefore, our aim is to join a variety of offsetting projects that also provide wider benefits in addition to carbon reduction, such as biodiversity, education, jobs, food security and health & well-being in developing countries.

Our internal processes generate a lot of heat energy. We are currently in the process of installing heat recovery exchangers to convert this energy and use it for hot water supply, facility heating and reduction of fossil fuel bills.

Utilising our staff to achieve a more eco friendly mindset and work ethic.
